Whisper Band Of The Week: The Young Rebel Set

This week’s dose of highly recommended new music

There’s an honesty and heritage to them, coming through on tracks like Common Touch, that’s almost Pogues-like, while If I Was is folk-y and coastal, filled with love and optimism. Another track, Falling Hard, reminds me of Joshua Tree-era U2 and Bob Dylan round about the time he revisited Highway 61.

While this band may never bend your head, it may just break your heart. Or at least prove a suitable soundtrack to one. While we all wish that our lives were the crazy rollercoasters we dreamed of in our youth, in reality most of time we’ll just sit there and staring out the window at other people. And the music of the Young Rebel Set will make us feel good.
